Sarah and I went out to Site M, Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Park today. I’d been out there last week mountain biking and wanted to come back and take some pictures. We did a 5 mile hike around Drake Lake with the dogs.
The dogs were in heaven. Scents, grasshoppers, foreign poop. They had it all.

More photos after the break.

I’ve got a mental task for next week to cancel our Fit Club membership. We’ve reached a point where we like going, but hate justifying the monthly cost when we’re not going enough.
I think I went there only a handful times this summer. I was on my bike training for a century most of the summer. Sarah went to workout a few times, but I think she did most of her running outside. So kind of useless.
So we’re looking to cut the fat from our monthly budget, but would also like to cut other fat. So a question to blog-land, where’s a good place to workout temporarily? With like a day pass.
I am debating about picking up a few weights and a bike trainer for the basement. But where can we get our sweat on for cheap?

When I start posting flattering pictures up like this (left), you gotta know the cabin fever is starting to set in. I know it has gotten especially bad when my Dad makes mention about it at Sunday family dinner, “What were you thinking?” I really have no shame and I was capturing the moment. It is the longest my hair has been since college. I should have told him that “Everyone is doing it on MySpace!” For some reason I don’t think that would cut it. (I got a haircut this weekend) In reality, I gotta blame it on the cold.
It is 11 degrees right now, and it was -3 this morning. Tomorrow is looking better with a high of 21 and a chance of flurries.
I have found some relief to my cabin fever. I’ve been going to the gym pretty frequently. Nothing feels better than getting really sweaty and walking out in the arctic tundra.
I am working on a bike stand so I can work on my bikes up off the floor. I got inspired after bargain hunting and deciding it would be much cheaper to build my own. I found a few examples online to base my design on. I’ve got the parts now, but I need Roommate Steve to make cuts with a ban saw and pop-rivet the hinges and latch at his work. I’ll have a complete follow up after it is complete.
Something tells me that I need to get back to wiring. My kitchen light is still out. For the meanwhile, I have a lamp sitting on a table. Just a little tacky. I am also worried about my office. Right now there are three computers, four monitors, network equipment, and a UPS all on aluminum wiring. I’ll feel better once that is all updated.
I’ve got plenty to keep me busy, someone just keep the camera away from me.
Hi everyone, I just signed up to do the Jingle Bell Run for the Arthritis Foundation this Saturday. I joined the game a little late, but I am ready to run. I’d appreciate it if you made a contribution to the Arthritis Foundation. My goal is a $100 dollars, but I think with everyone’s help I could surpass that amount.
Make a donation here or email me (cscheufele at gmail dot com) and I will make arrangements to pick up your donations.
Thanks,
Shoo

I was on a good pace for the month of August for getting up early and bike riding for 30 mins. That pace has slowed to momentum of a turtle race at the county fair. I am not a morning person. GTG knows that. My family knows that. And even my dog knows that. Now moving into night owl mode.
Since the bike rides have been lagging, I hit the gym up late this evening.
I am not a big fan of running, but I know it will burn the calories the fastest as well as improve my leg strength. I ran for 25mins with a magic number of 300 calories being burned. *Magic- because who knows how truthful those algorithms really are? Stern, you got an answer?
I had the “Yeah, I just ran my ass off, look at all this sweat” kind of face which could be interpreted as “OMG, look how out of shape he is.”
Feeling pretty good. Wait till tomorrow.
