What a crappy weekend to be sick on! GTG managed to share the love last week and share her cold with me this weekend. Snifflying, coughing, stuffiness, hot flashes. The whole sha-bang.
Saturday we attempted to accomplish some errands but after two hours we were spent and retired to the couches for the rest of the day. We felt so icky that our dinner consisted of potato chips and ranch dip. We live a block and half from a pizza joint, and that didn’t even sound good.
Sunday was a little better. We looked at new refridgerators, GTG split off to grade some awful essays, I cleaned the bathroom and kitchen, and baked a pizza. We even made it out to the park with the dogs.
Now my hands stink like bleach, I feel really hot, and Jes and Heather are the last two on Rock of Love.
It feels like a full but incomplete weekend. Oh well.
Dear Muscular Bone Structure,
I apologize for the junk that I’ve been feeding you lately. I know when I say “non-fat” at Starbucks, I am still pounding the useless calories on you. And the Taco Bell that is craved by both of us, it’s making us bust at the seams even though we avoid the sour cream and get a ‘diet’ soda. Or the purple slushi and Lunchables that we had for lunch today. Let’s be real, there was as much nutritional value in that meal as much as in a pack of Starbursts.
Body, I am going to make an attempt to get us back on the bike. We may not be able to crank out a century or fit into bike tights, but we’ll fly like a greased turkey on the trails. I am also going to get us back on a regular pattern walking with the dogs. They too, okay maybe just the tubby one, need to get back to marking their territory and sniffin’ road kill. The tubby one is starting to look like a pack of Ball Park hot dogs.
So yes body, let’s sweat to the oldies, get physical, crunch the pounds to taking back the first step pass the recliner to a healthy life style.
Sincerely,
Yourself.
PS - Maybe just one more Mocha this afternoon. No whip cream. Then we’re totally about this being healthy crap.
Running 3.1 miles outside in 40 degree air is a lot different than running it inside the gym. Obviously.
I teamed up with my friends Lori and Kirsten. We talked before the race and made a pack to stay together. Which was a good idea because I tend to get Top Gun-ish and kick it to a faster pace and then be worthless at the end. The three of us completed the race in 32 mins and some change. Two
minutes better than our goal of 34 minutes.
I think my family and friends were a little astonished when I announced that I was doing the run. I am not a runner by any means. I guess I can blame the guy in the cubicle just to the side of me at work. He took up running last January, had never been a runner in his life, and is now close to running a full marathon. Now I do not fathom myself as a marathon runner, but heck’ that’s a little inspiration. I am using it more as an opportunity to get back into the gym. Lose a few pounds and get in shape for biking next year with the anticipation to do at least a few races and maybe some mountain biking out west.
Still a little sore but it was a great time. Especially the huge Cracker Barrel breakfast.
Thanks again to everyone who donated!

I raised $155 dollars for the Arthritis Foundation. Thanks to everyone that donated!
I bought new running shoes for tomorrow. Somehow GTG got new running shoes out of the deal as well?!? It was my first time for buying actual running shoes.
Thanks again, tomorrow should be fun!
I’ve passed my goal of a $100! I have a $100 dollars entered into the system, but I have checks totaling an additional $35 dollars that I will put in over lunch!
Thanks to everyone that donated!
If you still haven’t donated, I think you can donate till late this evening.
First of all, I do not know what I am going to eat at lunch today!!! Buddy’s dog food is pretty expensive.. I wonder if it is worthy of human consumption.
I’ve moved and tweaked a few things on gotshoo.com this week. Problem is that I come across sites and I see shiny things and I want them for my own. The hard part is integrating these pieces into a fluid moving site. If you are using IE, there is a + View Banner link in the middle of the leaves header pic. If you are using Firefox, there is a + View Banner link at the bottom of the leaves header pics. And if you click the link, it opens the full size image of the leaves while shading the background grey, but for some reason it is leaving the post backgrounds bright white.
Once I get things sorted out, I am going to do a bunch more headers like this. They’ll all appear randomly, so you’ll have to click refresh a million times which will put me on the top 500 list on Alexa.
Wishful thinking.
I am thinking about doing the Jingle Bell run with Lori and Kirsten. I went to the gym last night to do some flexing in front of the mirror. It is part of my training regiment. I still have no idea why they said my yellow thong was too much for public? What? I was just flexing.
So be warned, I will be asking for donations!
“Where did my Shooey go?”, sputtered Kirsten at Browns last night. That was her reply after telling her my dinner was a salad.
as I sipped on my diet coke without any additional liquids and previously running 3 miles with her at the gym.
Maybe it’s Mark, my personal trainer / Chicago Greek bar friend? Or could it be because of Kyle and his strong will and determination to change his diet. Or even Philly training for a marathon in the fall. There is a wisp of healthy air going around or some really strong B.O.
Anyhow, things are going great. Planning to ride with Philly this afternoon.
I am going to be so buff, “BEEF CAKE!”
I just saw a hot girl leave pretty headily from my neighbor’s apartment. I will have to investigate this later. How dare they piss off hot girls. Will have to setup the ‘hot-girl’ trap for the next one.
I woke up this morning and the first thing on my mind was to blog. Blog, yes a term that has become so prevalent in today’s everybody is a techno-weenie. I powered on one of my three, yes mine and not my room mates, computers. Like a literary master I was ready to put my thoughts down to the white screen. I wrote one of the best blog posts ever. There was drama, incite, sexual tension, and pictures. Then just as I was 3/4 finished with my 4 page blog post, the stupid touch pad on my work laptop crapped out on me and started doing weird things. So weird it closed my browser window!!!!! Pissed off is an understatement.
But if I remember… it kinda goes like this. (without the detail and sexual tension)
What a Saturday!!! A beautiful day it was. From minute one my day was jam packed with things to do. I started the day doing an hour ride on the dirt trail by the lake. Afterwords SternO stopped by and made me go to the mall. I think it was for pink hand towels for his bathroom. As soon as I got back, Rob and Kyle wanted to go bowling and thats just what we did. My game was far under par but they bowled their average’s.
After bowling, I came home and cleaned up. Laura and I were going to Magic Kitchen; only the best Thai food in Springfield. Dinner consisted of crab Rangoon, a six pack of Killian’s, she had Pad Tai, I had Chicken Fried Rice. It was delicious!
Swim trunks in hand we headed to Katie C’s boat for some party cove action. Well just a little action before the sun went down. There were about 9 of us on the boat when we arrived to handful of boats in the cove. And the ones left were some of the best of the best. One boat had the American and POW MIA flags proudly displayed on the back of the pontoon and a very white girl in a orange bikini dancing to the classic 90’s hit Sir Mix A Lot’s ‘Baby Got Back.’ It was a beautiful dance. So beautiful while I was floating in the water with a cold one in one hand I proclaimed, “I MUST BLOG THIS!”
Sunday was a little more relaxed. Biked for an hour on the dirt trails once again. Did a few loads of laundry. Wrote this blog post for the day for the second time, and now as I type getting ready to make a trip to Baskin Robbins.
Have a great week!
So I worked out again last night….
Good workout, just that all that was good was spoiled by freaky naked guy. I was coming into the locker room from the showers. I had just been in the hot tub so I was washing off. I looked down the aisle and there was the dude. Butt-ass naked. Taking way more space than needed.
I’ve have seen dude before. And it seems to be at the same locker each time.
I immediately put my ‘naked guy’ avoidance tactics into action. The guy was taking up the whole bench along with any path to get around him. So weighed myself, picked my nose in the mirror, and flexed for a little bit.
Head back around the corner. Gasp; there is just enough space to get around him. So I narrowly navigate to my locker. Get changed, get ready. By the time I was leaving, dude is finally putting on some underwear.
Now I am not against nudity, but please Mr. Naked Dude have some respect for the rest of us sight seeing exercisers. Next time I am moving my locker.
Last night was a jammed packed night for me. I had dinner with a certain someone, which she revealed something that I had been suspecting for a long time but just couldn’t put my finger on it. That’s where the carpet post came from. It was rather comical. I found great humor in it.
After dinner, I proceeded to kill myself - in the case of working out. I ran a whole mile and then my left foot became numb. Like the numb, its fallen asleep numb. So I walked for another 10 mins, and moved on to some other machines. Then I did weights. Grrr! I am realzing today, I have muscles that have been dormant for some time. It was a good hour workout, but it hurts to type today.
After that, I headed downtown. For business not pleasure. A local bar owner (this is going to be a hard one to figure out) wants me to do a website for his bar. So I headed next door and checked out this awesome band 56 Hope Road (is that right Merf?). Great band, I was just too tired to stand up, so I went back next door. I was only going to stay out till 10.30ish, but I got a call from Mark who I had been in conversation with in colaborating on this local bar’s website. He had emailed me earlier letting me know that he was ripe for a drink and wanted to talk some bizznaasss.
We ended up staying till 12 which made waking up this morning a little harder. But I am at work.
Tonight I have a meeting with a ‘client’. ** real life client ** and then working at the bar from 8 to close.

Well yesterday was day one of getting back in the gym. Wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I ran / walked for 25 mins. I was doing great till towards the end I got a charlie-horse in the back of my leg. All and all, the hottness is coming back (HAA). And I think the only reason I made it to the 25 minute mark, honestly was cutie on the right and cutie on the left. That’s inspiration!
Monday was such a lousy day. Looking for Tuesday to be a little better.
Finally did it. I joined Fit Club. It feels good and I haven’t even worked out yet.
They’ve made some improvements since I have been to the one on Lawrence. They put in a new room with just treadmils and also upgraded some of them with their own tv. So you can run and have your own television. Pretty tight!
Monday evening will be day one of hell.
So what do you think I weigh?? Any guesses? I have a idea in my head. Should be an interesting day stepping back on to the scale.
It’s Friday. TGIF.
Today is actually pretty busy for me, so I will try to keep this post to a minimal. I just finished an advertisement for the company that will be going in the Springfield Business Journal. Don’t know if anyone reads that, but if you do keep an eye out for AccuBuild.
So remember when I said I was going to join Fit Club and get all hot and stuff. Its been on hold since then. BUT I just made a pinky-swear with Kirsten last night that we would both join next Monday. All I can think is how much the first week is going to hurt! No pain, no hot women.
Word on the street is that Ed-mobile is coughing up a lung. Jessie told me last night that Ed called her saying that he couldn’t go faster than 70 mph or his car would to shake to death and the ‘Service Engine’ was brighter than a xmas tree. Jessie told Ed to just buy a new car in Nashville. I’ll be curious to hear what he gets. Poor Ed-mobile.
In other news, I got no news.
I spent most of last night helping Rob and Kyle setup for the big ‘Nerd-Fest Lan Party 2005.’ If you missed the previous post, I am attending a LAN (computers connected playing games for you non-techy people) party this Saturday. We are expecting 15 people. It will be just a pure mass of geeky-ness. We are playing Half Life, Battlefield 1942, and Unreal Tournament 2004.
Yup. Ok, back to work for me. I am also working at the bar Saturday night - come in and visit!
So believe it or not I have a New Year’s resolution. Yes. I do.
I am going to get back in shape and lose some weight.
I can hear the hecklers now, but it is something that I have been wanting to do for myself for some time now. I am not doing it to become ‘hot’ or even for a girl. (However that inspiration does help) There was a point during college that I was working out 3-4 times a week; I had a great waist line then. So later on this week, I am going back into the gym. I can feel the pain already.
