Welcome to Gotshoo?, proudly serving the inter-tubes since 2000. Gotshoo? is the personal of Chris Scheufele, that's me. I live in Springfield, Illinois with my wife and two dogs, Buddy and Clancy. I work during the day as an IT consultant and play at night with a freelance company called After Hours Development, and put together cool projects like Spfldbloggers.com
When I am not tinkering with computers and code, I am taking pictures trying to keep up with my daily photo, or riding my bike, or playing with the dogs.

Photowalking is the act of walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting.

I’ve bounced the idea with a few bloggers and tweeters about having a photowalk, and this weekend seems perfect for it. The trees in Washington Park are ripe with color and it’s going to be about 60 degrees this weekend.
First, for those uninitiated, what is a photowalk? It is exactly like what it sounds. A bunch of people get together to take photos. It’s for everyone. You don’t need a fancy camera or SLR. A regular point and shoot will due. It’s a great way to meet new people, get tips, and compare technique.
Where: Washington Park; Carillon
When: Saturday, Nov. 1st; 1pm – ?
Who: Everyone.
What: Bring a camera. From the feedback I’ve got back already, hoping to have 3-5 additional photogs.

I was actually not a lazy bum this weekend.
Dad came over this weekend to help rewire and replace the front porch light and the foyer light. The wires for the lights had been cut over a year back when we were rewiring the basement lights.
One of the beauties of owning an older house is that everything is wired to the same circuit.
The greater part of Saturday we spent exploring the antique wiring and devising a plan on how to rewire everything. One of the best investments this weekend was a 25′ steel guide wire.
We would hook the guide wire to the old wire then pull the old wire out. Once the guide wire was through, then we would hook up the new wire and pull it back. This method worked extremely well.
Mrs. Shoo is extremely happy because this year we get to have Trick-or-treaters. Everyone stop by with your kids, we’ve got plenty of candy. I don’t need any of it. (I am sneaking a piece as soon as I hit publish)
all the time and money in the world, I would have gone seen Ryan Adams and The Cardinals at the Fox Theater on 10-04-2008. Next best thing…
Just checking up on Google Analytics right now since work has me up at 2am.
There are some interesting keywords on how people find Spfldbloggers.com
Most of these keywords only have a single visit related to them, but the top keyword for the site is “spfldbloggers.” Really?
Sarah and I went out to Site M, Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Park today. I’d been out there last week mountain biking and wanted to come back and take some pictures. We did a 5 mile hike around Drake Lake with the dogs.
The dogs were in heaven. Scents, grasshoppers, foreign poop. They had it all.
More photos after the break.
I’ve got a mental task for next week to cancel our Fit Club membership. We’ve reached a point where we like going, but hate justifying the monthly cost when we’re not going enough.
I think I went there only a handful times this summer. I was on my bike training for a century most of the summer. Sarah went to workout a few times, but I think she did most of her running outside. So kind of useless.
So we’re looking to cut the fat from our monthly budget, but would also like to cut other fat. So a question to blog-land, where’s a good place to workout temporarily? With like a day pass.
I am debating about picking up a few weights and a bike trainer for the basement. But where can we get our sweat on for cheap?

I love her voice. I can’t think of the artist who her voice resembles, but I could get into it.

It’s Sunday night and this is about the first real time since Friday evening that I’ve sat in front of the computer. I know, I know, it was barely two days. But that’s a lot of time in the digital world when your job consists of keeping a web based application up 24/7.
Part of the reason for the disconnect was that my Dad came over Saturday to help out on a wiring project. Our house is about 50~60 years old and a lot of the wiring is original and done with aluminum wire. I am told it was cheaper and more readily available when our house was built. It’s also kind of a fire hazard.
(Note: Drawing not to scale.)
Dad helped out replacing 5 outlets. We passed on the 6th for right now as it was connected to the same circuit as the bathroom lights. How that happened, I don’t know. Our two hour project took a whole day, but we’re steadily making progress on rewiring the house.
Sunday I met some friends out at Site M aka Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Park, I prefer Site M, for some mountain biking. A beautiful unseasonable 80 degrees out, but was a great day for a ride. I think I spent four hours out there.
Just a great fall weekend.
