I went with my kids. I had already decided that we weren't going to try to get close at all, so we literally got there about 10 minutes before Obama spoke and from the looks of it, were no worse off than people who had probably been there for hours and hours. We couldn't see anything, but my point was just for my kids to be able to say they were there. The people around us were all in a good mood. We witnessed long lines for water, but everyone seemed polite and patient.

As for the speeches, I thought Obama was way less dynamic than a year and a half ago, but I have to think he's saving the good stuff for the convention. He did a nice job introducing Biden, who in turn did a nice job returning the compliments and pointing some zingers toward McCain. My 10 year old son was just enthralled by the snipers and swears he got each of them to wave at him.

From the time we left our car to our return to it was a total of 60 minutes. The express lane of history.
