Unofficial Spfldblogger night with the Sliders!
Yes, that’s right bloggers, commentators, lurkers of the internet, July 13th (this Sunday) has been designated as the meet-up date. The game begins at 6:05. Check out the Sliders page for more info or Johann’s blog post.
And just for a roll call so we know who to look out for, can those attending leave a comment? I think the plan is to show up early and get seats all in the same section. Unless you want to be creepy and sit by yourselves. And since everyone hasn’t posted their mug for the world, just look for me.
Again, everyone is welcome to join us.

I am in, and I’ll have my girlfriend with me.
I’ll be there, too, wearing my “Grab the bull by the horns” T-shirt.
Jeremy, you have to carry a camera in front of your face so I will recognize you!
I MIGHT be there. We’re planning to go boating that afternoon, so it depends on when we’ll be able to drag ourselves from the beautiful waters of Lake Springfield…
Just to doublecheck: We are meeting at the visiting team’s gate (side?), right? I’ve never been to Robin Roberts, so I don’t know where that is.
The visiting team’s gate, that is. I know where the stadium is.
There’s only one entrance.
I will be there*, along with Mrs. Johann and the elder L’il Johann (the younger L.J. isn’t ready for sitting still for two and a half minutes, let alone two and a half hours).
* Provided that elder L.J.’s baseball tournament doesn’t suddenly get scheduled for this afternoon. It SHOULDN’T, considering the game that decides who plays L.J.’s team in the consolation game and who plays in the championship game has been postponed since Friday due to the rain. (To my knowledge, anyway, they haven’t played that game yet.) But then, considering the tournament itself got thrown together literally at the last minute, I can’t really be certain I won’t get a call this afternoon saying L.J.’s game is in 45 minutes or something like that.
More than likely, though, that shouldn’t occur, and the Johanns will be at RR Stadium. I sure as hell hope so, considering I’ll look like a putz for being so vocal about us doing this and then no-showing.
[...] I mentioned at Shoo’s blog, there is still a small possibility that my seven-year-old’s baseball tournament may [...]
Thanks, Shoo. See you there.
I overestimated the size of RR Stadium, much as my brothers did the size of Springfield’s airport when they met me here for a flight to Vegas.
Brother: “How are we going to meet up with you once we get to the airport?”
Me suppressing the urge to laugh: “Well, you’re going to want to get to the main concourse of seating, which is just past a Subway.”
Unfortunately, Jordan and I were unable to make it to the game. We went to visit her grandfather who is in town from Florida, and we just got back. I really wish we could have made it. But if there’s another outing planned, I’ll be there.
That’s alright… there were a few people that showed up. Got a better ideas on how to plan it next time.
