A Series of Paintings.

This weekend Mrs. Shoo and I headed down to Paducah Kentucky for our good friend John Romang’s art show. He’s been featured many times on Gotshoo. We love his art, especially when one of the pieces features Mrs. Shoo’s shoes.

The show was hosted in a condo being renovated. I would throw in some art terminology how the mood was set, but I have no idea. I’ll stick to taking photos. It was just a really cool place for an art show.

More photos after the break.

All the works in the show were done in the last four months, except one piece which was done a year prior.

The art-lookers looking for a deeper meaning.

Polaroid shots. He told me that this film was near impossible to find.

The X on the number means it was sold. This one went for like $15K. Kidding!

The host of the gallery was gracious enough to give everyone a wall to paint on. I painted a shoe.

This is a cool one. I don’t remember the whole story, John interject with a comment if you can remind me, but the idea for this painting came to him in a dream. He originally painted this on a lilac background, didn’t like it, covered with red and came up with this. For some reason, Mrs. Shoo wasn’t too keen on me buying this one.

This is actually a portrait of John’s Grandfather.

IMG_8269

Monsters. John teaches elementary art. I wonder where he gets his inspiration?

This dude kept taking photos all night. As, if!

Four out of five Romang brothers ain’t too bad.

Mom and dad approve.

The artist.

We had a great time, almost too good of a time. John we are so privileged to now own two of your paintings. It was a great time hanging out with everyone. Have another one of these art show type deals again!

Great photos!!! And the most successful LowerTown Art Show ever!!!! We had a blast and are now the proud owners of Blue Shoes!!! Well done, John! xooxxomt

  2. 2 Mrs. Shoo

The skulls are actually what bothered me about the red painting. It’s interesting to look at but reminds me of some sort of nightmare.

And thank you again, John, for reserving Mrs. Shoo’s Shoes for us. If anyone else would’ve gotten it, they may’ve gotten jumped in a dark alley or something. I LOVE it–my two favorite things: shoes and the color green. We’ve already decided where to hang it, and I’m going to make curtains to match it over the summer.

I had the opportunity to see the painting first-hand and I must say it’s impressive.

From the photos, it looks as if the art show itself was a huge success as well as alot of fun.
