This is my second purchase using my iPod touch. It’s just too scary how much debt you could rack up by hitting the “Buy Now” button. I came across Black Mountain while browsing the featured sections on iTunes. I’ve been in an Arcade Fire / Silver Sun Pickups mood the last few months and this album fits that niche.
It sounds like what you get if you put Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, and Queens of the Stone Age all together in a room and told them jam. The songs build up with a lot of drums, guitars, organs effervescent of 60’s and 70’s rock, and then switch completely into jam mode. Vocals are soft and fit the mood of the music.
I wouldn’t say there is a distinctive track that represents the album because all the songs transition seamlessly. It’s a complete album, something that’s not commonly found in music anymore. This is an album that you can put on in the background and not be interrupted while working or reading.
Dude are you gonna go sledding tonight? You have to. It’s going to be legendary. It should all go down shortly after 6:00 or so at PAssfield, so get to work and free up your evening.
