I took some photos of the dogs tonight, but I just wasn’t feeling it. The lighting sucked and I can only take so many pictures of the dogs on the couch. So instead, I present the daily photo as one from our Colorado trip last summer. This picture is currently my wallpaper on my iPod.

Our trip was only a week long and in that time we went from Estes Park to Durango. That’s pretty much from going from the top of the state to the bottom and it’s a lot of driving.

The coolest part had to be driving through the mountains. At one point you’re in the valley passing a stream, the next you’re going uphill at a 35 degree grade and then heading back down with rocky sidewalls going 70+ mph. It’s an incredible rush if you’ve been stuck in Illinois for most of your life.

I’d love for any excuse to go back out there.

Love the picture….and LOVE Colorado. We’re packing all the kidlets in the family truckster this summer and heading to Denver. Cannot wait!

Dude that’s such an awesome photo. I mean, the setting is beautiful, but the lines and composition are perfect. I love the way the road comes in from the bottom corner and winds into the main part of the photo, and at top there are the multiple horizon lines that give it a ton of depth. I don’t like to get all “artsy fartsy,” but great work.

nancy - Sounds like an awesome family trip… well except for the 14 hour drive.

dave - Thanks for being all “artsy fartsy” and the compliment. I’ve always liked how this photo looked, but I just couldn’t tell you why. You’ve given me a pretty good idea why I like it now.

What’s not in the frame was a guy climbing up the side of a rock basin. But that’s what people in Colorado do - they climb rocks, run up mountains, ride bikes down horribly jagged trails, and eat soy. Amazing.

Today, I think I might use the drive-thru at McDonald’s.

Nice photo Shoo! I love Colorado too. Been out there a number of times. The air is so clean and it feels so open compared to all the strip malls we have here in NC. I’d like to get out there again soon if I can. Hey, why don’t we plan a big bike week out there. Not like the ones they have in Miami though… a road bike week. But we can still invite some hookers.

There’s a Bike Week in Daytona Beach too. You guys should go there instead. It’s an experience.

    Great photo, Shoo.

Betsy, I believe Denny is referring to the two peddled bike.

I am well aware of the bike week at Daytona Beach. Remember pointing out the bar where girls wrestle in coleslaw? I do.
