Sufjan Stevens
I hate to admit, as I pride myself on my music collection, but I have none of Sufjan Stevens’ music. I think a trip to the big blue store is required after work tomorrow.
Welcome to Gotshoo?, proudly serving the inter-tubes since 2000. Gotshoo? is the personal of Chris Scheufele, that's me. I live in Springfield, Illinois with my wife and two dogs, Buddy and Clancy. I work during the day as an IT consultant and play at night with a freelance company called After Hours Development, and put together cool projects like Spfldbloggers.com
When I am not tinkering with computers and code, I am taking pictures trying to keep up with my daily photo, or riding my bike, or playing with the dogs.

It seems like it’s going to be one of those days; dreary and perfect for a nap. I was trying to convince myself this morning that it was Friday. No luck at all. GTG is on her last school days of the year. She’s happy to be done, but the grade book program that she uses is a piece o’ poop and driving her crazy.
Well back to the grind. I’m definitely going to need a double shot today.
Buddy in motion to tackle Clancy.
What’s Memorial Day weekend without a little cooking out? I treated GTG’s parents to ribeyes and grilled asparagus last weekend. It was the first time I had grilled asparagus, and I don’t even like the weed like vegetable. I covered the asparagus with olive oil, salt and pepper, stuck a skewer in the bottom, and grilled for about 1 1/2 on each side.
Since I grilled it, I had to try it. I was surprised, it was really good. The other pro asparagus eaters agreed that I did a good job as well.
The ribeyes were excellent. They’re not even cooked in this picture and I still want to take a bite!
The dogs did stuff and I took pictures.
Clancy is in the process of losing his baby teeth. I pulled one out the other day with my bare hands. Kind of like the crocodile hunter.
Clancy jumps for joy as GTG tells him that he’ll get some leftover scraps this weekend.
Bud is not impressed as he requested a whole steak medium rare.
The following blog post was bribed with free beer.
The Movie Geeks Club is showing Leon (The Professional) at Capital City Bar and Grill. I know nothing about the movie, but it probably won’t be as good as Shrek III. I am still going though because you can order a nice tasty horse shoo while sipping (or chugging in Russ’s case) an adult beverage while watching a montster of a movie screen.
So who’s up for it?
Sterno called me up a few weeks ago “Shoo, I bought a condo. I need to move stuff.” That was code for you own a truck, you are my personal UHaul. It didn’t actually go down like that, but I gave him the heads up that I would be in town on Memorial Day weekend for a wedding and engagement party.
All was agreed upon, and I was to meet him at his parents at 6am on Friday. I was actually bright eyed and bushy tailed on that Friday morning and running just a little late. Stern called me as I was pulling onto Cherry Road to head a few blocks down to his parents house. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a Leland Grove cop. Didn’t think much of it other than crap I am wearing a backwards cap and I am on a cell phone. Nothing illegal, just paranoid. I made complete stops at all the stop signs and the proper turn signals. I turned into Stern’s parent’s driveway and the guy still had an eye on me. Didn’t even have a caffeine buzz. Pa Stern was outside and pretty much told the cop to keep moving there was nothing to see here.
He must have been social profiling for twenty somethings with backwards caps.
I didn’t let that put a damper on the rest of the trip as we cruised 70 mph passing about 15 cops and quite a few pulled over cars. Nick L drove up later in the afternoon and said he passed 52 cops.
I helped Stern that morning and afternoon unload his temporary residence to his new condo. It’s a pretty nice pad. It over looks a blue lagoon with real blue gill. The lagoon was really blue like tiddy bowl blue.
In the evening, I was attending Mathew and Tabitha’s wedding reception. I’ve know Tab since high school and was luckily allowed to attend the wedding reception as I waited till the last possible minute to give a RSVP. I know I will be expecting my penance as the date for the big day rolls around for GTG and I.
The reception was great. The food was great, the drinks were plentiful, and everyone was in good spirits.
Above Mathew and Tab cut the cake… Unfortunately, there was no cake smashing into the face. I had my camera ready and set on action shot.
Later on the evening there was plenty of dancing to be had. The other guys there not so much, but ol’ Shoo can still cut a rug especially after a few adult beverages. GTG you’ve been warned!!!
I dutily took mental notes for GTG as to what the bridesmaids were wearing, what the cake tasted like, and how much alcohol is consumed by each guest. I unfortunately concentrated a little too much on the last item and was only able to show photographs. TGIF I took photos.
Of course, while I was at the wedding reception I was asked questions about the Shoo + GTG wedding. Other than giving a date and mentioning that the cake would be kick ass; it was all I was allowed to say.
Tab, if you are reading this… I had a great time! Congrats to marrying a great guy!
Stern, if you are reading this… I hope you got that shower curtain up. That was the worst shower ever.

One Schrute buck for every comment made on gotshoo.com.
And a bonus Jim as Dwight and Dwight as Jim YouTube video.
That’s it. Five minutes, the conference room.
I was stuck listening to the 80’s while getting ready this morning.
Excuse me for the pun, I’ve been abusing it all weekend. Well, I am doing what I didn’t want to do; resurfacing a wood floor. But as they say ‘It will build character!’ The character building has been stretched out over a few weeks as I find other higher priority items like planting a garden. It’s been two days and I still don’t have fruit!! Thankfully the Country Market is around the corner.
I stopped about 3/4 of the way on the floor because I got a terrible knot in my back. Yes, my body frame is meant for remedial key pushing. But once I get the remaining 1/4 done, I am going to go over floor once again to remove the remaining lacquer and glue.
So far so good.
As for refinishing, I am going to have to read a book or watch a podcast. My best guess would be that I will need to sand down the floor, clean, and then apply a combo stain + lacquer and wait 6 hours for it to dry. Okay, my best guess may of come directly off the can of stain. But it’s a start.
My big project for this weekend was to dig up and plant a garden.
The photo doesn’t do it justice, but there are three tomato plants, two green pepper plants, strawberries, asparagus, and a watermelon sprout. Most of the work was transplanting the grass to other areas in the back yard. I got some sun and a little workout. Ace Hardware store also made a small profit off me as I made over 5 trips to the store. Thankfully it is right around the corner.
GTG planted some flowers and herbs.
Bud spent the weekend working on his tan.
Clancy spent the weekend getting the piece of fuzz off his nose.
This is the fruit pizza GTG made to take over to my parents tonight. It was excellent!
I am beat.
Brad reminds us that it is National Bike\Walk to Work Day tomorrow. Haven’t done it in a long time, so I think I am busting out the two legged transportation tomorrow.
Had to pull this one from the Flickr vault. Did not make it home for lunch today (Sorry Nattie).
Has everyone see the article about the city’s new Segways? Is Springfield that big that cops can’t ride a bike or walk?
