This is Phil. Many of the Gotshoo readers may recognize Phil from the past. I went to middle and high school with Phil. Even after high school I still managed to run into him at parties at U of I, or trips to SIU. He’s super smart, and just an all around cool guy. He got his masters (I believe) in computer science at U of I. From there, the big dot coms lassoed him out to the West coast to work as a full fledge nerd.
He would make it back to Central Illinois to visit the family around Christmas or Thanksgiving and joke that he was saving his money so that he could backpack across Central America. Actually, he was dead serious about backpacking.
Around Christmas Thanksgiving last year I saw him downtown at the bar. We shared a drink and I congratulated him that he was taking the leap to backpack across strange countries. I didn’t hear anything about Phil till around February when Kyle posted a link on his blogroll. I’ve been following his adventures and photos since then.

He was home for Thanksgiving, cause he came up here around then. At Xmas he was already globe trotting.
