Dog is so lucky.

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve gone off the deep end with the dog. Although the dog is wearing a life preserver, a sailor’s hat, and booties.

I have been in turmoil on deciding to write this post or not. We’ll see if the publish button gets hit.

Buddy had his first day at puppy daycare today.

I sh!t you not. A dog, going to daycare!

Okay, to set things straight, GTG and I decided to take Buddy to daycare because he spends 95% percent of his day in the house because of the cold weather. So when I get home he wants to play and tear crap up. I, on the other hand, want to watch stupid videos on YouTube and possibly go workout. We have conflicting schedules. We make resolutions though. He chews my foot while I rub his belly and use the other hand to check my email.

And to set things even straighter, this was ALL GTG’s idea. She and the dog have a mutual connection that is channeled through her, into demands, then to me. They also snore the same way.

GTG took Buddy to the vet for his kennel shot which was really just some nose spray. She tells me he took it like a champ. I then took Buddy for a 30 minute evaluation. Yes, an evaluation! I don’t think they even do that with snotty nose three year olds.

A woman at puppy daycare took him into a room for about 10 minutes. God knows what she did to the poor guy. She then took him out to the pack. Yes, the pack - this place is a cage free environment. Buddy sniffed. The other dogs sniffed him. It must have been poop-heaven to them. He doesn’t have much poop around the house to smell except the toilet, and that’s off grounds.

She then asked me questions like ‘is he allowed outside?’ - hell ya - ‘can we give him treats?’ - the dog devours anything - ‘is he sensitive to touch’ - he’s a ball of fur, not a shrink case.

Afterwards the lady gives the okay. Buddy is approved, but before I can even drop him off for daycare I have to pay an evaluation fee which equals about one nice ribeye steak, a few pints of Bass, and a gallon or two of gas.

The dog is lucky. Probably luckier than any kid I ever have. (And no Mom, I am not planning any kids in the future - you have a gran-dog)

I just dropped him off for the afternoon today, sure enough he was tuckered out when GTG picked him up tonight. Puppy daycare is only going to be an occasional thing, but I think it outweighs being a yuppy and taking your dog to daycare. Or at least I hope so.

Dog is so lucky.

Most parents shed a tear or two the first time they drop their kid off. Does doggy day care have a web cam? I hope.

Not only does doggy daycare have a webcam, I hacked it so GTG could see two cams at once and it wouldn’t close after five minutes.

Shoo, don’t feel bad… Some friends of mine have a pure bred bull dog that’s about a year old(I never asked how much he cost but I’m guessing they could have either bought the dog, or made a down payment on the house)… He only gets bottled water. Has a diaper bag for when he travels. Has had 2 seperate sinus surgeries. Has his own “toy room” and has a personal trainer (no joke) come to the house twice a week to help keep him in top physical-bull dog form.

I am sorry but the whole pet thing is getting out of hand if they have daycare for dogs. Do they have kitty day care? It is probably more expensive than Addison’s day care. Shoo you apparently have too much extra money.

Nattie, that makes me feel much better about taking the dog to puppy daycare. The only possession I would say Buddy claims is a blanket that he’s chewed a hole in.

Jager, it’s actually not that bad. About 3 bucks an hour.

And Shoo, I think you did a good thing with the doggie daycare. Keep him occupied so he doesn’t eat all your stuff. I bet 3 weeks in doggie daycare won’t amount to that 1 bra of GTG’s that he tore up… You guys are good doggie parents…

Nattie, That was my rationale when I pitched it to the Shooster. Plus it makes Buddy happy. I will say that I had a bit of separation anxiety, and I was worried that when I picked him up, he wouldn’t want to leave. But as soon as he saw me, he ran and rolled over so I could pet his belly. I was relieved.

Greetings from Bloomington-Normal–we have two 5-year-old dogs (GSD & Lab) who have been attending doggie daycare here since they were 12 weeks old. They go two days a week from November thru April-the only time they attend in the warmer months is during rainy periods when they can’t play outside in their yard. (Doggie daycare has a huge indoor play area!)

Here in B-N, it costs us $15/day for both dogs. They LOVE it and are quite “tuckered out” for about 24 hours afterwards, and we keep our sanity. Good choice for Buddy!

Puppy went to doggy daycare again yesterday while I puppy-proofed my apt. They all love him there. He played with the big dogs for a while, but he was scared of a large English Setter. The whimp. When I got there, he was in a small room with a Miniature Schnauzer (sp.) and a Pomeranian (sp.) or some yippy dog like that. He was excited to see me, but I could tell he didn’t want to leave.

    Shoo,
Puppy Day Care is not so bad. We have a dog walker that comes by once a day for a 30 minute walk while we are at work. It makes a huge difference and gives the girls a chance to get outside. (In the winter or on rainy days it’s more like a 5 minute sprint to pee).
