Run Shoo Run: The Finish.

Running 3.1 miles outside in 40 degree air is a lot different than running it inside the gym. Obviously.

I teamed up with my friends Lori and Kirsten. We talked before the race and made a pack to stay together. Which was a good idea because I tend to get Top Gun-ish and kick it to a faster pace and then be worthless at the end. The three of us completed the race in 32 mins and some change. Two minutes better than our goal of 34 minutes.

I think my family and friends were a little astonished when I announced that I was doing the run. I am not a runner by any means. I guess I can blame the guy in the cubicle just to the side of me at work. He took up running last January, had never been a runner in his life, and is now close to running a full marathon. Now I do not fathom myself as a marathon runner, but heck’ that’s a little inspiration. I am using it more as an opportunity to get back into the gym. Lose a few pounds and get in shape for biking next year with the anticipation to do at least a few races and maybe some mountain biking out west.

Still a little sore but it was a great time. Especially the huge Cracker Barrel breakfast.

Thanks again to everyone who donated!

Shoo, I’m thinking I should get special recognition. Not because I donated, but because after approx. 15 beers, I was able to spell your last name correctly. Most cannot do that sober. I’m this shiz-nit… :)

Shoo-that was great! It was so awesome to see you out there! you should keep up with it, it actually becomes adictive. i have lots of long term goals set and you know that i was never a runner. it is said though, that to consider yourself a runner all you have to do is run. easy enough…you are now a runner! my group meets 2-3 times a week for runs, some long, some short. you are more than welcome to join us anytime you would like. we have a 10 mile run in two weeks, 2 half marathons early next year and then Abes will be training again - something to think about! it is a great group of people. anyway, congrats on your run and a fabulous time!

    sparky,

I had a great time at the JBR. I hope to do more events like this in the future. I guess the hard part is finding the time to do it.

    Good for you Shoo!!!

    Awesome finish!

    I hate running!!!! :)

And also, I looked at that NASCAR laptop… probably one of the sweetest things I have ever seen..

Is it worth a darn? I might add it to my christmas list :) Let me know if it’s a good buy.

I would’ve preferred a computer decked out like a specific DRIVER, but NASCAR is good enough for me!
