Tonight was a nice relaxing game. I put the finishing touches on a side project (out of work) that I had been working on for months. Okay, maybe there were some interruptions in those months like moving, taking a few trips, seeing a few baseball games. For now, it is done till they break it.
Talking about baseball, Cardinal haters warm up those comment fingers, the Cards take another from Detroit. They now lead the series 3-1. If you have been paying attention to the stats they keep throwing out on ESPN, out of the 3 times the Tigers and Cardinals have met in the World Series, the team that wins game 4 - loses the series. They even brought up that the last time St. Louis was ahead 3-1 in the WS was in 1985 with the Royals, and the Royals came back to win the series.
I thought you were a Cardinal fan? Why all this negative stats talk?
Why? Because I don’t believe that stats and beer sales control the game. And that the tickets for tonight’s game were for Game 5. Game 4, going by what was printed on the ticket will be played tomorrow because of Wednesday’s rain out. I do believe in a higher power though.
During the game, I also loaded Windows Vista Ultimate on my laptop. The 64bit version. It took me a while to determine if I could install the 64bit version. I have a Athlon 64bit processor, but the whole time I had been running the 32bit version of XP Home. It worked.
The OS feels like the first time you date someone. They look hot, but everything is awkward and not everything is cohesive. Vista is definitely graphic intensive. A lot has been done with the integration of multimedia. It ran a little sluggish at times on my laptop and had a horrible time streaming recorded tv shows from my desktop. Again though, it is a beta. I think it will bring some of the spotlight back to the pc which has been outshined lately by the Mac and its OS.
Beer. Tonight I had a Boulevard Pale Ale. Excellent. A-, the Fat Tires are still sitting in the fridge. I am waiting for something special… Maybe game 5 4?

That game was agonizing to watch if you were rooting for Detroit. A few little mistakes at bad times, and you guys took advantage. You always do that, you and your little Eckstein monkey.
Microsoft didn’t put out a new OS for five years. If I was using Windows, I would have probably switched a long time ago. I can barely use a computer from three years ago, not even to mention old software. Most of what I’ve heard about Vista makes it sound like an already outdated version of the Mac OS anyway. No surprises there I guess. Nice aqua look on their logo too - glad to see somebody picked that up after Apple moved on to something else.
I hate to sound like one of those Mac freaks that pushes Apple like Jesus freaks push the bible. It’s just that Microsoft seems happy to settle into the Walmart mentality with their products. I mean, the Zune? Looks like the first generation iPod for Christ’s sake. Where’s the innovation and originality?
Am I still talking? Sorry about that.
Dave, not Mac freak.. Mac fanboy.
Every time Eckstein runs to first base on a walk, an angel gets its wings.
Not just aqua, black aqua. Yes, it was way too long for an update to XP. Service packs just don’t cut it. What Vista will lack, and has pulled many away to Mac-Land (I’ve considered it, if I had a few bucks to drop) is that OS Cat/Tiger/Leopard/X comes with stuff like Garage band, iMovie, a great WYSIWYG web editor and more. Anymore, after I get off work, I don’t want to see another line of code, sql string… I want to play.
The stuff on my current desktop for video and sound has either been bootleg or been bought in a funny looking box. Although I am thinking of going legit with an upgrade to the video editing software I use.
I can’t offer my full opinion yet on Vista because I only played with it for about 30 mins last night. I will follow up though with a subsequent post.
And more on the Zune..
That was a nice gift for the Cardinals. I have been drinking my Haterade this morning and I hate all the Cardinal players and there fans. I hate all of the Detroit pitchers because they SUCK at fielding. I could have made that throw to first.
Shouldn’t Miller High Life be the beer of choice for celebrating?
It is the champagne of beers and all.
LOL.
Shooey! Come visit! You can have Pale Ale on tap anywhere you go, or my personal favorite, Boully Wheat. Its delicious with a lemon.
Windows Vista Ultimate? Is that like a Frisbee game or something? And whereja get the Fatties? Out of town, or are they available in Spfld now?
How many questions can one commenter ask? Who knows?
26thman,
I wish the Fat was available in Springfield, but they were imported from Chicago. You can only get them in the 22oz bottle up North, which really doesn’t bother me. Every time I go into Friar Tuck and ask, they roll their eyes. I’ve asked a few times.
Windows Vista Ultimate - It is the new Windows beta OS with all the cool shi! I might crank out a podcast to demo it. I think PC people will be happy.
It’s on draft up here everywhere too, which is great, cause I don’t so much like drinking the 22 oz bottles in a bar. No biggie at home, but at a bar it gets warm so you have to drink it faster!
I will also tell you….not too long after we moved, the allure of fat tire wore off since it was readily available, and I don’t drink it as often now.
