K, you ask what am I doing this weekend?
Friday night I am planning to make an appearance at Josh’s party, as well as, try to meet up with John R. and see Nil8’s Hobgoblin Spookadelic. I haven’t been to in one in over three years.
But here’s the real kicker for the weekend.
My GF, the wonderful GTG who teaches English, co-sponsors student counsel, and assists the speech team, has hog tied imprisoned graciously volunteered me to be a judge at a speech competition.
At first, I thought this would be great, go see some high school kids do a little improv / drama. It will only be a few hours. Great, no problem my sweet gf.
No. no. The critical information was filtered to me in bits and pieces… 1. We have to be at the school by 5am, 2. We have to take a bus to Peoria!, 3. It will last all day!!!
I don’t know if I was suckered into the situation, or GTG is just lucky that she has a BF who is willing to put up with a day of HS kids and bus trips to Peoria. I don’t know.
I figure I can get a guys weekend out of this.

GTG, is this for forensics competition?
There was one going on last weekend at BSHS Friday night during the football game and all day Saturday. Those kids travel just as far for one of those as the band kids do for their competitions.
Yes, Catherine, forensics meet. I think Shoo should be excited to be expanding his horizons. Instead of sitting in front of a computer blowing fake things up or drinking beer and discussing sitting in front of a computer blowing things up, he’s entering the world of performing arts.
And you had your guys’ weekend several weeks ago, Shooey. Remember when you offered to take me to Chicago then asked if you could make it a guys’ weekend instead?? Yup…still holding a grudge from that one.
GTG, I know all about the world of performing arts. In high school, I was in two plays. Count them. Two. I was a dead guy in Arsenic and Old Lace, and a Beatle (Ringo) in the play John Lennon & Me. Yup, a full career in the arts.
Every hour spent on these sorts of favors for girlfriends equals at least 3 hours of freetime with the guys or four hours of blowing up crap on your computer. Man law.
Chris, you will enjoy going. Am sure there will be a kid or two you can ‘bond’ with about computers and such on the trip up. Otherwise, take a book or magazine to read on the ride up. You can play chaperone (hand check) on the way back home.
Thanks Dave. Man law.
Haha….I knew when I read this earlier you were going to get busted out on the man weekend thing….set yourself a nice little trap there, Shooey.
You still owe GTG a weekend in Chicago, as I recall.
shoo -
I think you can have a full frat party weekend if you wanted to for that. wow. you are dedicated.
Sounds like fun. Probably won’t see you this weekend though. Have a good time.
This is GTG…taking over for a moment.
I would again like to go back to the whole being ditched thing. Shoo has had his boy weekend and, in fact, owes me, his loving girlfriend, who despite tears of disappointment at not being able to go to Chicago (one of my favorite cities), sent shooey on his merry little way.
So, this Saturday gig is owed to me…and he still owes me a trip to Chi-town…Wiggleyville!! (Although Buddy will be wearing Cardinals attire when we visit)
Wow… there are WAY too many abbreviations in that post…
doesn’t anyone spell WORDS anymore????
Man, I want to see Hobgoblinspookadelic! Free thought becomes a relic!
