The Springfield blog population has spoken, which I think there was some choking and gagging involved, and has named Capital Fax Blog as best local blog. CFB, whomever you are, congratulations. If by chance of Google, don’t take this to heart. Keep on blogging.
A POLITICAL BLOG…. gah. I am not a fan of politics. However, I will get in a heated debate about towing in downtown Springfield. This stuff is boring in my opinion. Of course the guv has horrible hair and the state is running out of money. Nothing new in Illinois.
I was hoping it was going to be me someone with real blog posts about life: a horse shoe they ate, confessions of Catholic grade school, pictures of local landmarks, or puppies… you know, real stuff. I could care less if Judy Barr Topinka uses two gallons of hair dye each month.
Did you see the bottom of the article? I quote “and for that reason we think Capitol Fax is a shoo-in for next year’s award.” A shoo-in? Was that a low blow or a ‘Hey this is the Illinois Times we got love for the gotshoo’? We’ll never know?
A Shoo-in. I can’t believe it.
I am happy to say that BlogFreeSpringfield.blogspot.com came in 2nd. BFS is a wonderful read and is in my RSS feeds on a daily basis.
Sorry Unspelled, no blogger party. And I just went to Meijer and picked up the devil eggs and bratwursts. I’ll put them in the freezer for next year.

Just another example of the little man being beat down by the heavy iron fist of local politics. Ok so I can’t actually see the Capitalfax blog from work - that and the runner-up are blocked. That’s awesome though that they said “shoo-in.” How subtly condescending.
I agree that it would have been much more enjoyable to see a personal blog win. Local and State politics are so prominent in this town, although it’s not something everybody here cares about. I was to see a blog site devoted to the history of Cozy Dog (hint hint Russ).
In that last sentence, “was” should be “want.” Or “have the Constitutional Right”.
I like Capitol Fax cuz Rich is mean and doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him. Granted, he leans more toward the liberal side, but he’ll pretty much talk smack about anyone. I of course enjoy your blog much more Shooey. I’ll do better at voting next year and see to it that you are the “shoo-in.”
Dave, it looks like the owners have a small website dedicated to the history of the cozy dog.

I detect A little anger in shoo’s words for not winning.
I read the CFB everyday….it’s a good way to keep up with the stuff the sj-r isn’t going to print. He posts about things that affect “real life” since whether or not you like it, politics does.
Lately, you post geeky stuff I don’t understand. :p
Jager- No anger, not bitter… Just would have liked to see a ‘local’ win it.
Amanda. You are a poli-sci major. Your interest in CFB does not surprise me. Like uncovering a $1500 dollar check sent to Blago’s kid is going to make a difference in my life. Give me my geek stuff any day.
Just pointing out that there are people that read it.
Geez.
Yes, I know that. That’s why I specifically put “in my opinion” in bold.
Going back to happy land now.
Have a good weekend.
Oh my goodness. Everyone so crabby. Shoo, don’t take it too personally. Just remember that politics are a big thing in this town. As long as the Capitol resides here, it’s always going to be that way… But I heart your blog and I think you do a good job. And THAT should be all that matters!!!!
I guess that did sound a little snippy. Sorry Amanda.
Yes, yes… politics big part of lives… capitol here… yup. Vote or die. 4 more years.
That’s probably why I tend to shy away from politics because it is so present in Springfield.
Nattie I heart you. I’ll try to make it up to everyone by posting more Buddy pictures. Or we could change the subject to ‘Illegal Immigrants working in Buffet City’. J/K
Shoo,
If you sell me all of those deviled eggs at a discount, maybe I’ll host a runners-up party. Or if you’re at the Sarah Borges show at the Underground City Tavern on Oct. 9, I’ll buy you a beer.
Thanks for the nice words about my blog.
Dan

I saw that “shoo-in” comment and immediately thought of your blog. I wondered … was that a clue that you were 3rd in line? Was it a clue that they think you’ll win next year? I don’t know … but it seemed like a shout-out to me. Pardon me … while I go mourn the loss of the blogger party …
