Buyers beware

Had a friend make an online purchase the other day. They were for-sure at first that they had gotten the sweetest deal. Unfortunately, the company looks like they lied or stretched the truth on a few aspects of the product they were buying. They were expecting to see the product sitting on their door step by this Monday. After further investigation, they found it they will be lucky to see it by Friday.

Room mate Kyle and I have made quite a few online purchases and always had good luck. The major place we do our online electronics shopping is NewEgg.com (that’s a free one NewEgg). Never had a problem with them, you can check status of your purchase immediatly online, and shipping prices are reasonable. Usually the place I buy from for any PC’s I am going to upgrade.

Why I am posting this is because I am looking at a new digital camera… more of a digital video camera. NewEgg has the camera but is out of stock. So I have been hitting up Resellerratings.com. Great site that you can search for a product by price and get a store rating for the store advertising the product. Also, can read user’ testimonials or any quirks they had with an online store.

Shoo, that was both helpful, and informative. Especially since I too am in the market for a new digital camera. I’ve never (knock on wood) had any trouble with online purchases. Amazon.com and overstock.com and 2 of the greatest places though.

Hey, I just realized that I have no idea what your actual e-mail address is, though I have about 80 other ways of contacting you.

So, since I can’t add you to the list, I’ll just post a reminder here that it is girls night out-turned “non-gender-specific people Torrie likes” night out tonight. You know the place! :)

Shoo, are all of the products on newegg new or re-manufactured or what? Some of those prices (at least on the digital cameras) seem very cheap, compared to the retail prices I’ve been looking at.

I think all are new, unless you moved into a refurbished category.

Also, when looking at camera’s.. hit up cnet.com and do a search. They review most of all the new electronics on the market.

Right on. Broke my camera at farm aid on sunday. Kodak quoted me at $175 to repair it. What a load of crap. Anyhoo, I just need to find a Kodak digital that is compatible with the kodak easy share printer I have. That’s what I’m having trouble with…

Yea, that friend of yours made a huge mistake! I have never had any other problems with online purchases and even eBay was pretty good. When you think you have done so much research, there is always something you tend to miss…my experience has led me to that thought.
