Florida Day 1: Nascar Heaven

Let me just start this post out by letting you know that I bought a NASCAR hat today. That should set the mood.

The flight was great. Two planes and I didn’t have to sit next to anyone. Got “randomly” searched by the TSA today. I knew I should had not worn that turbin. As for airline food, I just had beverages: a coffee and a coke.

My 2 door Kia piece of crap was upgraded to a top of the line 4 door Dodge Neon with air, power, and a CD player. Let me tell you, I could sense the ladies just wanting me…

Later… my day at the Daytona Speedway.

Camera Deal

Hey, Kim (same Kim that comments on here) is looking to sell her camera. Great deal for someone that is looking for a digital (OR) looking to replace a broken camera.

Ebay

She is selling it through EBay, but I bet you can make a deal with her online.

The unemployed life … I’ve missed you.

I am sitting at home and don’t know what to do with myself… Actually, I do know what to do, but I am not having any of it at this moment. I am not unemployed, just between jobs, and still technically hold a job at the bar. The new job starts next week right after returning from Florida.

So what would you do if you were me?

Mojo’s

Our favorite bar next to Browns, Mojo’s. Meeting with RD tomorrow to get concerts and pictures up.

Qudo’s to Stern for the graphics.

K, no snide comments about how long it took me to finish this site.

Ohh… how you treat me!

Charleston… not the chew … you treat me well. Granted, I am older, wiser, than the base of the population you still know how to show me a good time. The bar formerly known as Stixs, now the Paw, showed me I still have the ‘Shooey’ dance moves. (SternO, I did not shoulder punch last night). Okay, they weren’t really dance moves. More like body gyrations with some kind of sporadic beat.

I ran into someone last night that works for the state’s attorney. Told her I worked at Brown’s, and she couldn’t stop talking about the owners. She also told me that she recently discovered an ad being ran in the SJR advertising openings for cocktail waitresses. Told her to come in and apply, “Tell them you know Shoo, (points to shoe) as in shoe.” Like that will really get her a job!?

Well I am here for Day 2. Sitting in a coffee shop drinking my $4 mocha and making sure I get the most out of their free wireless Internet.

Video Test

I have been wanting to some online video stuff… So this is my first test. Should be a video of room mate Kyle bowling. Video from my cell phone.

NPR

I was listening to NPR this morning when I heard a segment about a fishermen down in Louisiana. This was a quote from a fisherman to a young National Guard soldier who was telling the fisherman that he had to evacuate.

“I told him you’re not going to get me to go. My wife left me long ago, my kids are grown, my girlfriend is pretty enough to find another man, and I am 65. This is all I got. (Referring to his boat)”

The Go-Go’s get a Vacation?

I need a vacation. To the point, that this is the second attempt at writing this post. The first one disappeared.

As you may already know from a previous post I am heading to Florida next week. Land of sunshine and white sand beaches here I come! I don’t have any special itinerary planned except for a little R&R and a cold one in my hand while I am catching some rays. oooohh annddd.. .. .. viewing the scenery. Just purchased a new camera for my trip! Had to replace my 3 1/2 year old 1.3 megapixel sony cybershot. (Hell, cell phones can take higher resolution pictures than that camera)

The new camera will do video and I plan on upgrading the gotshoo.com to handle vidBlogging or “Video Blogging.” I got to keep 2 steps ahead of everyone else.

I am flying into Orlando and then driving up to Daytona. This will be my first time flying in anything other than a puddle jumper for a joy ride. I am kind’a excited.

I am just really stoked. 4 days in sunshine; I am going to be so red.

Arrr The Irish sound like Pirates and Pirates sound like the Irish.

Ahoy mate’…. do you know your Pirate name be?

Mine is: Semi-Evil Baird Hawkins

Get your Pirate name and post it on ARRRRR’ goo’d ol’ Got-”Semi-Evil Baird Hawkins”-shoo.com

Buyers beware

Had a friend make an online purchase the other day. They were for-sure at first that they had gotten the sweetest deal. Unfortunately, the company looks like they lied or stretched the truth on a few aspects of the product they were buying. They were expecting to see the product sitting on their door step by this Monday. After further investigation, they found it they will be lucky to see it by Friday.

Room mate Kyle and I have made quite a few online purchases and always had good luck. The major place we do our online electronics shopping is NewEgg.com (that’s a free one NewEgg). Never had a problem with them, you can check status of your purchase immediatly online, and shipping prices are reasonable. Usually the place I buy from for any PC’s I am going to upgrade.

Why I am posting this is because I am looking at a new digital camera… more of a digital video camera. NewEgg has the camera but is out of stock. So I have been hitting up Resellerratings.com. Great site that you can search for a product by price and get a store rating for the store advertising the product. Also, can read user’ testimonials or any quirks they had with an online store.

That one is out of here; way out of here.

What a weekend…

First order of business; I got a new job!!! I have accepted a position with a computer consulting firm here in Springfield. More details on that later.

I am planning a trip to Daytona Florida between changing jobs to see one of my best friends / old neighbors next week. Ed came over yesterday and we looked at travel options. I can fly down round trip and get a rental car for about as much as it would cost for the price of gas to drive all the way down there and back. Very excited! Going to eat some great seafood! Clams on the half shell watch out.

Cardinal post season tickets go on sale at 9am today!

Ladies: Attention, secrets to my heart / stomach.

Ed and I stopped at Meliss’s for some milk and cookies last night. Meliss’ mom baked up a batch of scrum-delicious chocolate chip cookies. Granite Granted she had made Ed like 2 dozen, I got my own baggie because she felt sorry for me. I chowed those down faster than an Ethiopian running a marathon. Ohh, followed by a cold tall glass of milk. Ed and I sat with Meliss and her mom and watched a little Survivor as well. I <3 Meliss’ mom.

Say “NO” to underage drinking… or at least card 20 somethings so they feel young again.

I went down to St. Louis today with my boss for possibly the last game I will ever see at Busch Stadium. While I was down there I par-taked, or is it par-took, in a few beverages. I bought a beer at the food kiosk. Lady did not card me. Never-ever happened before, but thought nothing about it. Boss bought me a beer from a beer man. Guy didn’t ask for my ID but again I shrugged it off as the guy was thinking my boss was my dad or something.

Busch Stadium is usually notorious for checking ID’s and only serving two beers per person.

We stop at Calico’s for some pizza… ok wait didn’t have a beer there. Afterwards we move on to Mike Shannon’s, I buy a round. No ID.

Then after that we meet the son of a guy we went to game with at this irish bar. And go figure, you wouldn’t believe it. I didn’t get carded?

What’s a guy got to do to get some ID checking?

It’s a beautiful day in the Shoo-hood.

Howdee kids! It’s another beautiful day in Shoo-land! Actually its a cloudy and muggy day. But at the end of the week we may have good reason to celebrate! Ohh I wish I could tell you, but then what would we have to look for at the end of the week? (and if you know what I am talking about it - please don’t post for more reasons than one) .

In bowling news, the Lucky Strikes continue their striking gameplay to take 5 out of 7 points last night. (2 points per game - 3 games, 1 point for total amount of pins for the series). I increased my average this week bowling a 153, 167, and 155. This should put the Strikes into 3rd place out of 12.

Some random thoughts from me:

1. Calling someone only to find out that they are at a Cold Play concert can make one mad.

2. Need clean clothes? So much easier just buying new ones.

3. Anybody knows its Lebeda.

4. Looking at the baseball schedule is a must when choosing days to take off.

5. Hot girls. Are hot.

6. Remember tip your bartenders and waitresses well. Its in your best interest.

Gotshoo.com goes down; state workers improve output by 20%.

So this ol’ dot com went down yesterday. It was actually because of the power outage in California.
