Tuesday the much anticipated Kanye West album Late Registration comes out. I will more than likely get a copy. My question to my audience is what are you listening to? I am to music what K is to movies. Honestly, thinking back now and realizing the conversations we have had in the past; we are the same person just in different medias.
Just the other day I was talking to Sutzer about a purchase I made the other day, Matisyahu - Live at Stubb’s, and K made some kind of snide remark about my taste in music. I returned fire with that he only listens to the Lion King album on infinite repeat.
Yet, if you go to K’s blog you’ll notice MANY posts about DVD’s with bonus footage, re-released DVD’s with director comments, DVD’s with deleted scenes… you get the picture. I haven’t seen a movie all summer. Wait, the last movie I saw was in the Spring and it was Sin City.
So a contrast in what we hold close to our love of entertainment, but we have passion. You should see my CD collection I am all over the place. It looks like a flea market sale with the variety of music I listen to.
Okay, to reiterate the quesion: What are you listening to and what do you want to be listening to?
I am starting to dig The New Pornographers. Pitchforkmedia gave it a 9/10.

i’ll take a copy of whatever you’re listening too shoo!
Listen to Will Smith…”don’t Down Load, Go Out and Buy the Music!”
I would just like to say we saw “Red Eye” last night, and it was one of the best movies I’ve seen. Best movie I’ve seen in quite some time, I’ll say that for sure.
Oh, and I listened to my “Pure Disco” CD on the way to work this morning. Been rotating it, Poison and Queen’s greatest hits. All my live Dave Matthews CD’s are at work. That’s all I listen to here. “Live at Red Rocks,” “Live at Central Park,” “Live at Boulder Creek…” They’re all flippin awesome.
I don’t really listen to the Lion King on repeat. Last few CDs I’ve listened to have been Beck, Maroon 5, and Cake.
Thanks for making me seem like a 5 year old. ‘preciate it.
Whatever happened to you seeing movies. Movie night started out as you, Ed, and I seeing movies. Now you are too good for movies or to hang with me? Just grilling and going to Chicago is all you do anymore.
Kyle, that is not true. Shoo also claims to be the best bartender in Springfield… See, he’s got other things going for him…
Oh yeah. How could I forget that important bit of information.
I never claimed to be the best…. I claimed Ed and I were the best duo bartenders.
K, I don’t like to see movies during the summer.
Oh good Lord. This squabbling is ridiculous. I listen to everything. At home in the CD changer, I have a variety of Beatles, the White Album being my favorite. In the car I’ve got Keith Anderson. It rotates on a daily basis.
I have been listening to these five lately on heavy repeat:
Oingo Boingo
Fraggle Rock/Muppets Sndtrk
Chumbawumba
Crash Test Dummies
Cyndi Lauper’s Greatest Hits
Sterno, you’re such a damn freak. But I mean that in the best way possible… On 1 page in my CD book, I have Elton John, Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney and Ray Charles. Yes, I think you could say I’m eclectic.
Stern isn’t embellishing a bit. He kills me with his iPod all the time.
And he didn’t even mention his Jackson 5 collection.
Yeah, I get chastised all the time when I play Rockwell’s “Somebody’s watching Me”…
Whatevuh. I dig the funky beats.
Your mom
Rockwell probably had a cocaine habit like everyone else in the 80’s and that’s why he’s always paranoid about somebody watching him….
They talked about that song on “I love the 80’s” which was possibly the greatest show ever to be broadcast on TV.
Who throws back a comment of just ‘Your mom’ in 2005. So grade school.
I was in Chicago yesterday and my buddy bought the new Death Cab for Cutie album. IT is great, the are going to be big soon. We also listened to the Dandy Warhols on the way back. I am I child of the 80’s so I still love the Hair bands.
Hey, Happy Birthday, btw, you piece of turd rolled in burnt hair (Jeff)
And I was throwing it back in response to what? Yeah, shut it.
Refresh my memory of my snide remark that I made?
BUT IT’S YOUR DOG!
