So the design theme at the ‘Westchester’ isn’t pastels and natural textures. It’s ‘pimp-nerd’: A collection of electronic elements to bring out the sophisticated, girl idolizing, style of computer guys. First item on the agenda is to build my own DVR. I have been toying around with the idea for awhile of building my own box instead of laying out the $200 bucks for an off the shelf pay by the month unit. You’d be able to record tv shows, play mp3’s and videos, all kinds of cool stuff…

my friends in sf had one of those. seemed nice. they took the way of the pimp-nerd too far though, with wires criscrossing every wall, humps under the carpets, and (as they liked to boast) 63 processors scattered around the house (mostly in boxes in the hallway). personally, i’m more interested in making my new home cozy for seattle kids. that means big couches, subtle lighting, and electronics as hidden as possible. like putting the trap door button under the lip of the desk. and i’m getting a f*cking clapper.
Crash was such a good movie. Everyone should go see it. It’s one of those “make ya think movies” so if you’re not in the mood for one of those, don’t go!!
