Thoughts… of pain.

Have you ever seen a guy with so many muscles - you’re like what a jerk?

I went mountain biking with Philly yesterday. It was a beautiful, non-rainy day. Phil and I have gone riding numerous times and its always Phil that ends up on the ground because he hits a tree or his chain falls off… Never fails. Well fate changed for me yesterday. I was fish tailing down a hill on purpose when my front wheel caught a tree causing my bike to buckle, the handle bars hit the inside of my upper-thigh (very close to the man-hood), then I was thrown over my handle bars like SuperMan. The bike then flew over me and landed on my shin. While I was in the air, all I could think about is that “this is going to hurt and bike please don’t land on me”

Phil was shortly behind me and saw what happen. It wasn’t much for words, but he was like “Are you ok?” Of course, I being the all-mighty Shoo was ok. After a few minutes of walking any pain off and checking the family jewels to see if they were in order. Yup, ended up riding another 5 miles after that but my shin is still a little sore.

And, yes, I was wearing a helmet which didn’t do a bit of good in that situation.

Ohh nooo comment spam.

You may have noticed the comment spam that I got from some casino annoying website. Word Press (the blogging program I use) took care of most of them. It’s actually blocked about 15 of them. But obviously some got through. So, I did some research, and made the rules a little more stringent for posting comments.

This week is going to be the best week ever or the worse week ever. It mostly depends on the outcome of (not the world series, Ed) me getting employment. I am not stressed out. Ok, yes I am. I just really want this job. It would be the next best thing to winning the lottery. I have done all that I can. Even sent the “Thank-you follow up interview letter.” I told my mom about sending out the letter and she was like I have never done that before. In this day of age, it seems you have do everything from bribes to begging and kissing feet to get a job. I checked the Sunday paper today and there were 2 entries for IT jobs. And one of them was just a generic advertisement that’s always in the paper.

But have no fear. I think I am rather convencing that I’d do anything for a job, even give up my first born. (ok, not really, but really close)

Ok, after the situation of the job, then the outcome of the World Series.

Let’s get this party STARTED!

“After two games it seemed inevitable. After five it became improbable. After seven, it’s real,” quoted from the St. Louis Post-Distpatch.

Game 7 rocked my world. Plain and simple. I spent a whole season watching Pujols, Edmonds, Rollen, Walker, and the rest of the Cardinal crew do something that was unthinkable in the begining. I went to about 8-10 games this year. (I need to count my ticket stubs) Unheard of for me before this year. I thank Ed for boosting my interest in a sport that I could watch everyday; even a really long slow game. And I’d like to thank him again for the awesome playoff tickets!

A playoff game is so much different than a regular season game. The signs (My favorite: “Let’s talk about the birds and not the Bees”) are everywhere, the beer flows at twice the rate, the fans get crazier, the game gets more intense, the prices go up, the traffic jams get longer, the gasps of air on close plays in the stadium could literally suck in the universe…

This playoff season has been an intense battle in both the American and National league. Boston coming back from 3 games down. The Cardinal’s 3 losses in Houston. The media defiantly payed more attention to the NY v. Boston series. You can thank Fox for most of that. But I forsee the Cardinals shocking the East coast that there is actually a team better than both Boston and NY.

I hate the Yankees. Evil empire.

More later … “After the game”

Big DAY part 2

I rocked the interview like its never been rocked before! Now to wait for a call back next week.

GO CARDINALS!

Big DAY

Today is a big day for myself and the Cardinals. I can’t believe I am the starting pitcher!

Well, not exactly. I’ve been a ‘little’ hush-hush about it, but I have an interview today (in about 40mins). I haven’t been nervous till this morning, but I think its more excitment than anything. I am not going to tell you anymore about the job unless the interview goes well.

And thank God that the Cardinals are not starting Scheufele (that guy can’t even make a throw to the plate)! Ed, myself, Phil, my lil’ bro will be heading down for the game today! I am taking my AM radio because I really miss listening to Mike Shannon call the games. I’ve caught him occasionally on the radio doing post-game interviews. Better than listening to the guys on FOX (or should be renamed to commissioners of baseball).

Let’s go Cardinals! Let’s go Shoo-Fly!

I blame it on the socks… really.

Last night I wasn’t wearing my lucky Cardinal socks. Actually, I haven’t wore them for the last two games they played in Houston. But the tide will change as tomorrow I will be going to the game with my lucky Cardinal socks.

Bartending.

I love bartending. Its always a new challenge when I bartend. Internally, I am going through my head, “Okay, I’ve served this person before, its Friday, more than likely they will be drinking a Captain / Coke.”

“That girl over there is hot but she tips like crap, but, hey, this guy drinks the imports and tips very well - she’s screwed.”

I psycho-analyze everything too. Someone who takes forever to order, even when they know there is a line waiting, more than likely is a poor planner and dosen’t know what they want out of life. Or if they have a ’special’ drink that must be done just right - their spoiled of course and either make a lot of money, or will never come close to making a lot of money.

  • Right now Ed is reading this and saying, “Shoo, you drink 8 different drinks at different times.” My response to Ed, I just want a little bit of life from many places.
  • And then when I am not analyzing the customers I am looking for the next task to complete like get more ice or wash glasses or just a whole other slew of things that would need to be done.

Then after that its the waitresses. After 5yrs of waiting on tables, I have a pretty good intuition of when someone needs a drink or has a questionable look like they need something. So if the waitresses happen to be standing around I’ll suggest they check on someone.

And of course I have my favorite customers. It may depend on what they like to drink (like Jack neat or a Becks) or they might just have an incredible personality that I won’t forget their name or what they drink. That’s really why I like bartending. Its the people. Even though their speech may be a little slurred and the thought processes are not exactly working for them. I am still going to take care of them.

    Good things.

If you missed it in the SJR the other day, a special A/E article was written up about one of my favorite local band Posamist. Check it out.

Friday afternoon I went biking in the cold wet weather with Phil. We were hoping for really muddy trails. The trails ended up only being a little moist; its wasn’t the mud bath we were looking for. The trees were awesome. Part of the ride would be just greenry and then we would reach some points and it would be blazzing with yellow from maple leaves.

Stupid me, I only wore a tshirt and jeans. By the end of the ride I felt like crap.

Came home, rested myself on episodes of the “Surreal Life” and then watch an expose of “Reality TV Exposed”. I dozed in and out of sleep for about 2 hours then finally got the strength to warm up dinner. Bake chicken and mash potatoes. Yum. Ate that, and I was ready to do my computer geek work.

(Really cool ring tone) My phone starts going off. Its Ed!

    “Yo, sup Ed?’

“Shoo, uhh, do you know you were suppose to be at work 40 mins ago”

“Gasp, oh S. I’ll be down in 15″

Get down to the bar afraid that I am going to get chewed out. Turns out that they were more worried than anything. Everything work out for the best. Was even better that Mike was working.

Ok, I think I have boreded everyone out with this post so I won’t tell you about the much older women that were flirting with me and stroking my hair.

St. Louis takes 2 in the Lou

What can make a guy feel any better than Scott Rolen hammering out a homerun? Its good to see him getting out of his hitting slump!

Submitted my resume to Springfield School District 186 for a programming position. I am feeling good about the position and I think my resume and cover letter look AWESOME (thanks for your help Becky). So let’s hope for the best!!

I have weird sleeping habbits now. I’ll go to bed early (or early for me) around midnight and then get up around 4-6 and do work for about 2 hours then go back to sleep till around 9.30ish and then get up and do more work. The whole working at home thing is nice, but it seems that’s the only thing I do now and its constantly on my mind.

Someone has to have some exciting stories??

    baseball.

Tonight game 1 of the NLCS.

    What? No Cardinal post?

How could I miss posting about the win over the Dodgers? Well, they won. Pujols rocks!! As for the jesture after the game of the Dodgers coming on the field to congratulate the Cardinals. One heck of a way to show sportsmanship. Can’t describe it any other way.

If you have lost track: Cardinals vs. Houston - Weds night. Yankees vs. Red Soxs Tues night.

    IM fights

If I ever have a room mate, our conversations are going to be like this.

Also another valuable program in removing Ad-ware (Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition).

    I hate spyware

So its been a long time but my computer got sick last night. Not from a virus but spyware. Spyware is comparable to AIDS. You can still live with it but there is a constant reminder that its there. How I knew was because of this slight dis-coloration. No, not really. My baby is practically immune to pop-ups; all the sudden they were popping up everywhere. I knew then that I had a problem.

I immediatly gave the ol’ girl a dose of “Spybot Search & Destroy” (available here). Spybot is a free program that rids your computer from about 90% of all spyware. I have used it many times and it has saved me a lot of time. That took care most of the undesired inflammation. For the rest I had to use some down-dirty tatics to clean my baby. I can’t tell you what those are, but for a small fee I can remove your unwanted spyware.

    Phil G. Needs A Girl

Phil G. has lost his mojo, his zin, his zang, but more importantly he is having problems connecting the ball to the pins. A.k.a, I am going to blame everything on not having a girlfriend. I feel bad for the guy, so since I know a bunch of people and sooo many people read this site, I am going to hook’ him up. Even though I tried telling him that he is better off being single and I had few websites that would make him feel better.

Ladies only, Phil is a very eligible bachelor that has just graduated from ISU with a degree in growing grass (not the kind that you smoke). He’s adventurous, likes to camp, go mountain biking, go to baseball games, an expert bowler, and just a plain out nice guy.

    Take this guy out!

For a chance to meet Phil email me at “chris AT gotshoo.com” Serious inquiries only.

    Throw me the beat

    PICTURES

Ahh, Thursday, the most glorious day of days. Not to mention the Cardinals are going to whip some Dodger butt.

My work, that I spent 12 hours working on yesterday turned out great today. I had to make a few adjustments, but everything worked perfectly. Ahh, I love it when hard work pays off.

On the other hand, when I was in a daze of work last night a hot girl called my phone. I got so excited, to my dismay, turned out she was looking for computer help. I about puked. :(

Today entails more work, a few phone calls, then heading down to the bar to watch the game. Everyone have a good day.

Kyle, you are no longer chopped liver. I set you free.
